The European Music Council (EMC), ExTra project coordinator, stands for the right of all musical cultures to coexist and for a better mutual understanding among peoples and their different cultures. The EMC is the umbrella organisation for all musical life in Europe and takes part actively in the debates on cultural policy in Europe. Information exchange, networking events and European cooperation projects are services provided to EMC members. As a regional group of the International Music Council of the UNESCO, the EMC also acts on an international level.
The National Association of Cultures and Traditions has worked for almost 40 years to safeguard and to expand traditional and folk cultures as defined by the UNESCO.
The Association has collected knowledge and know-how in different cultural fields and has contributed to the promotion and development of the region.
Donne in Musica
Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica (Women in Music), came into being in 1978 as a movement promoting and presenting music composed or created by women worldwide, of all genres and in all times. The Women in Music Foundation encourages contemporary creativity and the musical and cultural diversity of women composers.
The International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (IYMF), an international non-profit association, was established by Lord Menuhin to co-ordinate and to implement the cultural and humanitarian actions initiated by Lord Menuhin.
The mica is the Music Information Centre Austria, created in 1994 on the impulse of the Austrian government. Situated in Wien, the mica links together artists, organisators of events and the audiences.
Cité de la Musique
The Cité de la Musique in Paris, France, was inaugurated in 1995. It is a place for communication and dialogue, encouraging access to culture for all through its concerts, museum and exhibitions, documentation centres and its educational and publishing activities aimed at both adults and young people.
The En Chordais Ensemble is a workshop of sounds of the Eastern Mediterranean and neighboring countries based in Thessaloniki. Combining research with the performance of live music, En Chordais has performed innumerable times in popular festivals in many cities of Greece, the neighboring Balkans and the rest of Europe, as well as in the Near East.
