Panel on ExTra! Project Activities

On this panel all ExTra! partners were reporting on their project activities: Marie-Hélène Serra from the Cité de la musique, Emmanuelle Perrone from the National Association of Cultures and Traditions (ANCT) and Thierry van Roy from the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (IYMF) were giving an insight into the events and workshops that took place in the frame of the ExTra! project. Rainer Praschak from the Music Information Center Austria (mica) was demonstrating the opportunities offered by the ExTra! download platform. Kyriakos Kalaitzides from EnChordais was presenting the new released ExTra! CD "the water of my land" with traditional songs performed by immigrants living in Greece. And Eva Saether, as member of the Editorial Board, was introducing the ExTra! publication "Music in Motion. Diversity and Dialogue in Europe" and by this launching the book officially. Both, the book and the CD were handed out to all conference participants.

You can find detailed reports on the project activities on this site.

The presentations were followed by a discussion moderated by Simone Dudt as ExTra! Project Leader and EMC Deputy Secretary General. The partners agreed, that in spite of the broad variety of activities and the wide spread of countries and locations the co-operation and communication between the organisations went very well. ExTra! also succeeded to initiate similar activities that were carried out in consequence of some project activities. By this ExTra! will continue to exist in the form of follow-up activities which are not directly part of the project but which are linked to its original idea of promoting cultural diversity.

A comprehensive evaluation of the project will be accomplished within the next weeks by the EMC and its partners. Based on this evaluation recommendations willl be formulated, on the opportunities how cultural policy can enable the real existence of cultural diversity within our living society. These recomendations will be submitted to the EU Commission.
